This page describes the data handled by Ruban, Sight and this website.

In short

There is no account and no analytics in the app. Ruban does not send us anything about how you use your Mac. It only goes online to check your licence and to look for updates.

What stays on your Mac

To arrange your windows, Ruban reads their position, size and the name of the app that owns them, through the macOS Accessibility permission. This information is used on your Mac and is never sent anywhere.

Your settings (shortcuts, gestures, per-app rules) are stored on your Mac. The trial start date, your licence key and a random identifier of your Mac are stored in the macOS Keychain.

Sight reads the orientation of your AirPods through the macOS “Motion & Fitness” permission, to know how far your head has turned. This information is used on your Mac, in real time, and is never sent anywhere. Sight only keeps your settings and a count of today’s blurs. Its trial start date, your licence key and a random identifier of your Mac are stored in the macOS Keychain.

What the app sends over the internet

Sight does the same two things as Ruban: it contacts the Lemon Squeezy licence service when you activate your key and about once a week (your licence key and a random name for your Mac of the form “Mac-XXXXXXXX”, nothing else), and it asks our update server whether a new version exists (which reveals your IP address, the version of Sight and the version of macOS). Without a connection, a licence stays valid for up to 30 days.

This website

The site uses no cookies and no advertising trackers. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which may keep technical logs (IP address, pages requested) to deliver and protect the site. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without following you from site to site.

The embedded film is a file hosted on the site itself. If you follow a link to YouTube or TikTok, their own policies apply.

When you buy

Payment is handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. It collects your name, e-mail address, country and payment details, and keeps them under its own privacy policy. We do not see your card number. We receive the information needed to deliver your licence and support you, such as your e-mail address, country and order.

If you write to us

We use your e-mail and message only to answer you, and keep them for as long as the exchange requires, and at most the time needed to meet our legal obligations.

Sharing

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. It is shared only with the services above (Lemon Squeezy for payment and licences, Cloudflare for hosting and updates), which act for the purposes described here and may process data outside the European Economic Area under appropriate safeguards.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to its use, or ask for it in a portable format. Write to sandbox.macapps@proton.me. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr), or with the data protection authority of your country.

Children

Ruban is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data.

The same goes for Sight.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated. We will not start collecting new kinds of data without saying so here first.
